RE: [Xen-users] Installing x86_64 Windows 2003 server
You definitely will need PAE=1 in your configuration.
Whether it actually works in 3.0.2 or WITH that is a
different matter - there may be other changes in the -unstable tree that are
required [or it may not work at all! - But I seem to remember seeing some
patches a while back indicating that x64 Windows was working with those
changes...]
I would probably try a -unstable version - it's not
terribly unstable at the moment, because the tree is frozen to form 3.0.3, so
anything "revolutionary" is prevented from going into the tree...

Hi, My
environment: Hardware: Intel Conroe based,
VT enabled Xen: 3.0.2, SMP kernel
Base OS: RH 4 Update 3, x86_64, SMP kernel
Guest OS: Try to install x86_64 Windows 2003 using
hvmloader booting from CD on to a disk image file. Configuration file: pae=0, acpi=0 or 1, apic=0 or 1 Failure symptom: Windows installation CD will boot and files
are loaded, but For acpi=0 or 1, apic=0,
the installation hung at "Setup is starting Windows", VM status is b.
For acpi=0 or 1, apic=1, the installation hung at
"Setup is starting Windows", VM status is c
Questions: 1.
Does xen 3.0.2 support x86_64 for Windows? 2. If yes, what do I need to modify to make it work.
BTW: x86 seems worked just fine.
Sam
