Unfortunately, no.

VMware expects to be running directly on the hardware, and uses a kernel
module (I believe) to let it run code in ring-0 of the processor.  That
won't work in Xen's paravirtualized mode.

You could try using something like QEMU, but you'll take a big
performance hit.

Yes it works on a CPU with Intel VT. I tested it!
In fully virtualized mode, you want to say I guess?
Michael stated correctly that VMWare won't run in a *paravirtualized* guest... and should be true regardless of the physical hardware.
