Depends on what you are doing and how critical your system is. As it
sounds, you intend to do desktop stuff. I run Xen on some Dektops with
X on dom0 without a problem.
But I would not install X11 on a dom0 that acts as a critical system
in my infrastructure.

That's not exactly it.
You can access your graphics hardware only once - either in dom0 or in
one domU.
But you can run a vncserver on any domu and access X11 with it from
dom0(or whatever domain you choose to configure the one possible
graphics hardware access.

Hmm, maybe you should, before going to further topics, see how you
setup a simple domu correctly, before going further to vnc and pci
passthrough topics.
