In my case, I use serial line rate "115200" instead of the different rates listed in the above doc.

Did changed the settings in your /etc/inittab? You need to spawn a getty for your serial ports. Take a look at this file, you might have examples for your distribution there. For gentoo it is:
s0:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 9600 ttyS0 vt100
s1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 9600 ttyS1 vt100
