Thank you for the reply.
I am able to sniff for the ARP broadcast using tcpdump arp command, which gives me the time migration is completed.. (This is very convenient since it gives time in good precision)
Is there a similar way to get the time exactly when the migration starts?

the last step of migration is an ARP broadcast to update any switch's MAC table. listen for that packet.
