[Xen-users] Can't boot hypervisor on VIA Samuel 2
Good day,
I have a low-ish power system running a VIA Samuel 2, which I'd like
to have running Xen.
I've tried the Debian packages, and compiling 3.0.2 from source, both
with the same result: when grub hands off to xen.gz, the whole system
is rebooted without printing anything. It just flickers the screen a
bit, although that might be the reboot itself.
I don't think I've done anything particularly strange. I installed it
all with the make rules. My system is a somewhat-current Debian
testing dist. My CPU:
>>
processor : 0
vendor_id : CentaurHauls
cpu family : 6
model : 7
model name : VIA Samuel 2
stepping : 3
cpu MHz : 533.453
<<
With 192MB of RAM.
My grub entry:
>>
title Xen
root (hd0,1)
kernel /xen.gz noreboot
module /vmlinuz-2.6-xen0 root=/dev/hda1 ro
module /initrd-2.6-xen0
savedefault
boot
<<
I'm happy to provide any other information. Any light that can be
shed, be it just a debugging step or something, would be very
appreciated.
Thanks, Peter
