Re: [Xen-users] could not load modules.dep stops network from working?
Run depmod -a as root

Iam new to Xen and I am trying to FC4 and FC4 domains. I came across a
problem when my newly created domain never gets a network. When I
start the domain I get a fatal error that leads me to believe that
thios might be the reason why I don’t have networking with the bridge:
Checking for new hardwaremodprobe: FATAL: Could not load
/lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0/modules.dep: No such file or directory
modprobe: FATAL: Could not load
/lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0/modules.dep: No such file or directory
modprobe: FATAL: Could not load
/lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0/modules.dep: No such file or directory
mmap /dev/mem: Resource temporarily unavailable
mmap /dev/mem: Resource temporarily unavailable
modprobe: FATAL: Could not load
/lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0/modules.dep: No such file or directory
The file obviously does not exist, so what do I do?
in the domain, the ip is missing:
[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:44 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:44 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:3044 (2.9 KiB) TX bytes:3044 (2.9 KiB)
And back in the xen master I know the vif is being created:
[root@xenmaster xen]# brctl show xen-br0
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
xen-br0 8000.00e0812e539c no eth0
vif25.0
and my conf for the domain is:
kernel ="/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0"
memory = 512
name = "rawhide"
nics = 1
vif = [ 'mac=aa:00:00:00:00:11, bridge=xen-br0']
ip = "192.168.225.181"
netmask = "255.255.255.0"
gateway = "192.168.225.1"
hostname = "grasshopper.active.com"
disk = ['file:/root/fedora.img,hda1,w']
root = "/dev/hda1 ro"
3 questions:
Why is the domain looking in /2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0/modules.dep?
Why is the vif being created but not assigned to the domain?
Are these two problems related?
Thanx,
-peter
