Hi Akio,

   I've heard of several people hitting this problem now, so I'd be
willing to take a backport of the upstream linux-ia64 patch.  I assume
we just need the ia64/kernel/Makefile and ia64/kernel/gate.lds.S changes
from this patch, right?
