I have sync'ed xen-ia64-unstable with xen-unstable. Due to some recent changes in xen-unstable, it is now necessary to specify w! instead of w in your /etc/xen/xmdefconfig file if you are using loopback to mount a domU filesystem. It also may be necessary to rebuild your dom0 and domU xenlinux if you rebuild xen, as I saw some version number changesets that may cause problems. If someone has been successfully booting a domU with file: instead of phy:, please let me know.
