Hi,

the Xen 3.1 release includes patches for 2.6.18, right?

So until now, many users have been complaining about Xen being based on
2.6.16.x. But as far as i could see, 2.6.16.x was still maintained. New
version were released on kernel.org, including new security fixes etc.

Now you guys moved on to 2.6.18. I think, it's even plain 2.6.18 - not
2.6.18.8 (which would be newest from 2.6.18-series).
So 2.6.18 is from September 2006, 2.6.18.8 is from February 2007.
But 2.6.16.52 is from May 30th.

So i understand, that i was time to switch to a new kernel version.
Users complained about missing hardware drivers, for example.

But now - from a security perspective - Xen is based on the unmaintained
2.6.18 series which is a great risk.
That's a strange development.

Why was/is 2.6.16 still maintained? And is there any chance, that 2.6.18
is maintained again (concerning security issues)?

Regards,
  Sven
