Having thought about it some more I'm quite happy with the current 
code. It will mean that we continue to work even if we choose to vmexit 
on #GP (which we still do on debug builds).
If you can come up with cheap code to detect lost ExtIRQs that'd be 
nice but it's really not very critical at all.
