Hello Guys,
first i am sorry for my bad english, but i am not very good @
but i hope you'll understand me
i am trying to install "Windows Server 2003 R2 Ent. Edit. 64bit" on XEN..
My Host OS is Debian 4.0 Etch amd64
I've installed XEN 3.0.3.1 with the debian binaries
My Hardware:
HP Proliant ML310 v4
CPU = Intel Xeon 3060 2,4GHz --> this cpu supports Intel VT
4gb of RAM
2x 160GB SATA HDD
I am very Happy about it that it was able to install it after 50 trys..
The installation every time freezes after 10-15 minutes.. but once it runs..
my config file:
kernel = "hvmloader"
builder="hvm"
memory = 2048
name = "win"
boot="c"
on_reboot = "restart"
on_poweroff = "destroy"
on_crash = "restart"
vif = ['type=ioemu, bridge=xenbr0']
disk =
["file:/data/xen/domains/win/disk.img,ioemu:hda,w","phy:/dev/hda,ioemu:hdc:cdrom,r"
]
device_model = "qemu-dm"
sdl=1
vnc=0
stdvga=0
audio=0
pae=1
acpi=1
apic=1
ne2000=1
------------
every time i start the virtual machine, it works very well..
i think the performance is not so bad, but after some minutes, windows
freezes..
and that isn't that what i want...
the qemu-dm log:
cat qemu-dm.6117.log
domid: 4
qemu: the number of cpus is 1
qemu: could not open hard disk image '/dev/hda'
shared page at pfn:7ffff, mfn: 3118b
buffered io page at pfn:7fffd, mfn: 3118d
False I/O request ... in-service already: 0, pvalid: 0, port: 0, data: 0,
count: 0, size: 0
One thing i have seen, when windows is running:
In the device manager, there is a unknown pci device..(question mark)
and there is a call signal @ the vga adapter's entry
could it be possible, that this is a problem!?!
its every time the same..
but this is not the reason of freezing..
this messages always comes at the startup of the vm..
i don't know whats the reason of freezing..
i am very sad about this..
Do you think, that these are troubles with my hardware?(xm dmesg output is ok)
or driver problems in the vm?
i hope anyone has some ideas to help me...
greetings Matthias
