[Xen-bugs] [Bug 569] New: Boot fails with ACPI enabled in BIOS on	Athlon

http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=569
Summary: Boot fails with ACPI enabled in BIOS on Athlon XP SiS
                    motherboard
           Product: Xen
           Version: 3.0.1
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Hypervisor
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: winston@xxxxxxxxxx
When I boot with Fedora kernel 2.6.15-1.2041_FC5xen0 (and some earlier versions
as well) and with ACPI turned on in my system's BIOS, the boot sequence barely
starts before it spits out some kernel messages and reboots. Unfortunately,
this happens too quickly for me to see what it says, and it happens before the
disks are mounted, so there's no record of it in the system logs.
If I turn the option "ACPI aware OS" in the BIOS, this problem does not occur --
although it then fails to see the system's PCI bus, which I've reported as bug
556. In general there seems to be a problem with this motherboard and Xen
kernels. When I moved the hard drive to another computer, a Dell GX270, these
problems did not occur.
It's a desktop system with a mobile Athlon XP 2800+ on a PC Chips motherboard,
with a SiS 760 GX northbridge and a SiS 964 southbridge.
