Summary: Support for nForce chipsets disabled in the Xen binary
                    kernel in the tarball
           Product: Xen
           Version: 3.0.0
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P2
         Component: Unspecified
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: soumyadip.modak@xxxxxxxxx

I've tried installing Xen from the binary tarball on an nForce 2 IGP chipset
motherboard. The performance of the Xen kernel is terrible, with hdparm -tT
/dev/hda showing 2 MB/s. (The same harddisk Seagate PATA 120 GB, under the stock
Ubuntu Hoary 2.6.10 kernel gives 55 Mb/s). Apparently DMA cannot be used, since
the nForce driver is not compiled in by default. PIO mode is used, resulting in
massive CPU utilisation often upto 99 %.

Since the nForce driver source has been a part of the kernel since 2.6.3, please
enable this driver, as it is still popular among enthusiasts in the developing
countries.
